Doing What Is Defendable Versus What is Right

Doing what is defendable versus what is right.  I feel like I see this everywhere these days.  In business…  in politics…  we do not do what is right in favor of what is popular or, at least, uncontroversial.

Don’t let pride or fear get in the way of doing what is right.

“To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice.”- Confucius

The consequences of this type of short term thinking and perverse incentives:  Bold ideas, common decency and fairplay can be squelched in favor of the lukewarm, underwhelming approach disguised as “common sense”.

Just my opinion.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments.
