The urgent things in our life get done. They demand it because they feel so immediate. Many times even if they are relatively unimportant.
The key to success is to get the things that are important but not necessarily urgent done.
What types of things am I talking about?
- Building relationships
- Training, development, reading
- Spirituality
- Planning
- Preparation
- Sleep
- Exercise
- Recharging
- Fun, play
- The tasks and projects that move you toward your most fulfilling goals.
First, move all unimportant items off your list. The things that get your attention should generate more value than the cost of your time.
Then, push the important items on your list up to the top. Use a prioritized daily task list every day to ensure that they stay there. You do have one right?
Just my opinion. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
