Trying to Win Conversations

The objective of conversation is to share…  to learn…  to grow together…  to create positive change.

Unfortunately, we too often go into conversations looking to change the other person by giving them new information or pointing out flaws in their thinking.  However, without a corresponding willingness to hear the same from them, we miss the full value of the conversation.

Conversations should not be treated as debates to be won.

Instead, they are opportunities.  Go into each conversation curious; I wonder what I might learn?  I wonder how my view might be limited or flawed?

In that way, we can learn together and create an upward spiral.

Just my opinion.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments.
