We all want to be happier, and there are many things that we can do to boost our chances. One way that you may not have considered is to exercise your signature strengths.
In studies, those that used their signature strengths daily saw a significant bump in their happiness. That bump lasted six months after the intervention.
Everyone is good at something. For many of you, it may already be obvious what your strengths are. However, if you do not feel confident about yours, you can go to ViaCharacter.org and take their survey to discover your top five.
In need of a boost, revisit a talent that you haven’t used in a while. Consistently use your strengths and get a sustained boost in happiness.
At work, you can engage in “Job Crafting”. Job Crafting is what employees do to shape their work to increase their well being and thrive. For instance, we may volunteer to take on new tasks. As you job-craft, do it consciously and volunteer for tasks that take advantage of your signature strengths. That will help to ensure a boost throughout your work day.
Use these simple ideas and see your happiness increase.
