We all want to be happier. It is a universal part of the human condition. Positive psychology has been wonderful about providing us a ton of helpful advice on how to be happier. One really simple one is to have something to look forward to in your near future.
For example, people who thought about watching their favorite movie raised their endorphin levels by 27 percent. It can be that simple.
It turns out that the anticipation of a fun experience can bolster our happiness long before the actual events.
Therefore, my advice is to ensure that you always have something scheduled to look forward to:
- Make reservations for dinner with friends.
- Plan a vacation with your family.
- Buy the ingredients for your favorite meal later in the week.
- Put a trip into the woods on your calendar for this weekend.
What you look forward to is up to you. Just make sure that it is something that you are drawn to do. Get something on your calendar and see your happiness increase.
Just my opinion. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
