Rules of Engagement

We are all on autopilot most of the day.  Our lives consist of repeating habit after habit.  Therefore, the more good habits that we can instill and the more bad habits that we can overcome…  the better the life that we will have.

One way to do that is to use “rules of engagement”.  Rules of engagement are setting rules for your behavior when you are at your best mentally and not in the heat of decision making. Making the decision in advance frees you from willpower-depleting choices that can make a real difference.

Examples:

  • I will only check e-mail once per hour.
  • I will take one coffee break per morning.
  • I will order the salad today at lunch.
  • I will exercise every morning at 5:30 AM.
  • I will think of one employee to thank each morning.

Take this simple step to ensure that you have the best habits and see your success soar.

Just my opinion.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments.
