Trust Yourself

It is crucial for having robust relationships in your life to be able to trust yourself.  If you are not trustworthy, even trustworthy to yourself, it is much more difficult for others to trust you.

One way to increase self trust is to make, and then keep, commitments to yourself.  Create trust in yourself by following through on the commitments that you make to yourself.

Does that sound simple?  If so, here is some food for thought:  Half of Americans set New Year’s resolutions, but only 8% keep them. You may feel that sounds low, and it definitely is.  However, psychologist John Norcross believes that is a 10x improvement over the average commitment someone makes to themself.  Less than 1% of self commitments are achieved. Dismal.

You can do better.  Show yourself that your priorities mean something.  Take them seriously.  Make a crystal clear commitment to yourself with a date attached.  Follow through.

Just my opinion.  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments.
